Location

The OYC is easy to get to and easy to miss.
Vehicle entry is by proximity card, personal entry by coded lock.

Trailers:
If you are towing a trailer you will need to have the barrier turned off
as the magnetic sensor does not always register a trailers presence.

Getting to the Orwell Yacht Club

From Ipswich Town Centre

From town, leave via the A137 Wherstead Road towards Manningtree. You will pass under the railway bridge and then at the next roundabout immediately after the first exit (West Bank Terminal) turn left into the club (just before the shop). If you miss the turning go up to the next roundabout come back and try again.

From the South (London, Colchester)

Follow the A12 North towards Ipswich and turn right at the roundabout on to the A14 towards Lowestoft.
Take the next junction (junction 56) turn off and head towards Ipswich town centre.
Down the hill past the ski slope to the roundabout.
Take first exit and immediately get into the right hand lane
Turn back on yourself around the end of the long traffic island then turn immediately left into the entrance. (just before the shop). If you miss the entrance go up to the roundabout and try again

From the West

Take the A14 towards Felixstowe.
Turn off at Junction 56 and head towards Ipswich town centre.
Down the hill past the ski slope to the roundabout.
Take first exit and immediately get into the right hand lane

From the North and East

Take the A14 towards Bury-St-Edmunds
Just after you cross the Orwell Bridge take the next junction (junction
56) turn off and head towards Ipswich town centre.

Entering the club

Vehicle entry to the club requires a proximity card.

Put the card close to the reader at by the entrance and the gate should
rise.
You don’t need the card to exit so if the card is not yours, return
it while you remember.

Leaving the Club

You don’t need a proximity card to leave the car park, the barrier will detect the vehicle and rise automatically. However if you are towing a trailer you will need to have the barrier turned off as the magnetic sensor does not always register a trailers presence.
